Rilakkuma — the name literally means “relax bear” — showed up one day at Kaoru’s apartment and never really left. He does not want to work. He does not want to hurry. He just wants to lie on the floor, read a book, and remind everyone that slow days are the good days.

Rilakkuma is the sleepy brown bear whose whole thing is relaxing. His name comes from “rilakkusu” (relax) and “kuma” (bear). He turned up in an office worker named Kaoru’s apartment one day and, in true Rilakkuma fashion, decided to stay and take it easy.
